[Neon heart, day-glow eyes The city lit by fireflies They're advertising in the skies And people like us]
Adam pulled his hood over his head, and stepped quietly onto the sidewalk. Looking at each store he passed. D a m n.. He muttered under his breath as he took out his cellphone and noticed it had completely died. He had just gotten here, and he decided to walk out on the town, and get to know his new surroundings. Adam knew no one. Pretty messed up, but he hoped he would meet someone new in town. Who hopefully went to the same Riding Facility he did. His mother had convinced him to look around the new town, he had hoped his mother would decide to move into the country. But instead she just moved into a new apartment... And took Simon with her.
[Don't look before you laugh Look ugly in a photograph Flash bulbs, purple irises the camera can't see]
It didn't make sense to him anymore. He pretty much wanted to die sometimes. But Adam kept from doing that, because he knew how much his mother loved him. His love life sucked, and his life was pretty much screwed. Since forever. But he alwasy said that music keeps him from going over the edge. It was pretty much true. He never really had anyone to tell him not to do anything to hurt himself. Not even his mother. Nobody gave to s h i t s about him. It hurt.
[Oh you look so beautiful tonight...tonight In the city of blinding lights]
He had no friends, except for the horses he rode. And his riding instructors. Which he liked to talk to whenever he felt the need. They always seemed to listen, and pay attention. He enjoyed that. Adam was overjoyed when he would find someone who would actually pay attention to him.
[In the city of blinding lights, The more you know The less you feel Some pray for, others steal Blessings not just for the ones who kneel, luckily]

Fumbling his confidence And wondering why the world has passed him by Hoping that he's bid for more than arguments And failed attempts to fly, fly
Elvira jogged along the busy town sidewalk, plugged in to her DISCMAN and with some Switchfoot playing loudly in her ears. This place was a far cry from her own home back in San Diego, but her brothers said that she needed to find some place where she would be safe...just until they sort out their own lives. One, two, one, two, one, two... She settled into a comfortable jogging pattern, the rhythm of her pace matching the beat of the music. From her first impression, this area seemed like a really good place to feel safe enough to enjoy life. She didn't want to think about her brothers right now, especially if they were hunting down her mothers' killers. No telling what kind of danger they would be in. No, she would not think about them in danger.
We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside Somewhere we live inside We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? Somewhere we live inside
Breathing heavily, the seventeen year old girl stopped and put her hands on her knees. She had to recover her breath before she could carry on. At the moment, she was just living in a motel...somewhere around here. She needed to find a place that she would be able to make her home, semi-permanently. Maybe forever. She took no notice of anyone around her, because it's not like anyone took notice of her. Why would they? She was new, and Spanish. Of course, she hoped that people would be a bit more tolerant of her here, than back home. Or even friendlier. Once she had caught her breath, she straightened, and looked around. Where was she? She had run for about an hour, and couldn't even remember how many roads she had crossed. She knew she had taken a few turns, though, which was bad if she didn't know her way around.
"Oh, crap."
Dreaming about Providence And whether mice or men have second tries Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open Maybe we're bent and broken, broken

[Fill these spaces up with days In my room you can go you can stay I can't sleep, I can't speak to you I can't sleep]
Adam looked thoughtfully around, though he showed no emotion to where he was. Adam could alwasy tell where he was, only when he wanted to ofcourse. He quite liked getting lost. It kept him away from his crackhead of a father, and a suckup of a mom. Adam sometimes couldn't stand his family, it was patheic.
[Now these years locked in my drawer I'll open to see just to be sure]
Adam heard footsteps, no no running steps. He pulled his giant headphones down on his neck. And turned around. A girl? She looked spanish. Not like it mattered. Everyone called him a freak, he just stopped caring after awhile. Adam decided he better go and introduce himself. This might be the only time he would ever see someone in this god forsaken town. Hi.. Adam said slowly, I'm Adam, Adam Garret. He wasn't too good with being social. Atleast to start out with.
[And So I'm reaching out for the one And So I've learned the meaning of the sun And all this like a message comes to shift my point of view And watching it pull my own light as it tips a shade of you]
Hopefully this person didn't think he was a freak, though everybody seemed to think just because he was different, he was af reak. Adam had just gotten used to the idea that nobody liked him, and nobody ever would. It was sad yes, but in reality, he didn't let many things bring him down. Adam thought that hating people, and all that was just a waste of time and breath.
[I can't sleep I can't speak to you I can't sleep]

Blame it on what you've been through Blame it on what you're into Blame it on your religions Blame it on politicians
She saw someone walk nearby and didn't take much notice. Likely they were going to walk right on by and completely ignore her. Fair enough, she would ignore them. She looked down, and saw that her trackpant leg had rollen down, after she rolled it up to go jogging. She knelt on the pavement and rolled it up again, re-rolling the other pant leg while she was at it. Easier to run if you didn't have all that extra flappage. She stood up when she was done, and did a double take, as she realized that the same person she'd noticed walking had stopped in front of her, and that the person was a boy, maybe of about sixteen of age. She wondered what he wanted, and when she saw his lips moving she thought he must be mute. Or something. Because she couldn't hear anything. And then she realized she was still wearing headphones, and quickly removed them. she grasped the headphones in one hand and looked at the boy.
"Pardon? I'm sorry, I didn't hear what you said."
She motioned to the headphones and waited for his reply.
I have no generation Show me my motivation One world one desperation One hope and one salvation
Just then, the sun came out from behind a cloud, and Elvira wished she hadn't worn dark clothes for once. The sun hit full impact on her back, and she warmed immediately. Before long, she had to take off her zip up sweatshirt she used for jogging to reveal a black tank top underneath. Her pants were black with a red stripe, and she knew she couldn't take those off. Even with the sweatsirt off, she was sweating like anything. Great, now he'll think I'm disgusting and smelly. Why did I have to go jogging today? She tied the sweatshirt around her waist and took out the tie holding her ponytail. She had to redo it now, she looked like a mess. She tied it higher, to get her thick brown hair off her neck. Now it swung everytime she moved. She wiped an arm across her forehead. She really wished she hadn't met this boy right now, the fact that he had obviously wanted to come up and talk to her was ruined by her looking and feeling horrible.
Look what a mess we've made of love Look what a mess we've made We've got ourselves to blame Look what a bomb we made of love

[Hey there Delilah What's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away But girl tonight you look so pretty Yes you do Times Square can't shine as bright as you I swear it's true]
Adam watched as she motioned to her headphones, he knew excatly how that was. He always kept his music on full blast. I'm Adam Garret. Just saying hello. Haven't really met anyone yet. I'm new. Adam kinda went into a little more details. She looked atheltic unlike him. Adam wasn't the jockish kinda guy. He'd rather listen to music. Or hangout with friends, or bounce of the walls yelling "FISHY'S!" it's an Adam thing. He hadn't gotten that crazy in a while.
[Hey there Delilah Don't you worry about the distance I'm right there if you get lonely Give this song another listen Close your eyes Listen to my voice it's my disguise I'm by your side]
He stood contently awaiting an answer, the sun came out form behind the clouds. Yuck. Adam hated sunny weather. It was absolutly gross, he preferred rain. Or cloudy weather. Anything but sun. On sunny days he usually picked to be inside and stay there. He watched as she removed her sweatshirt, he had on one too, but wasn't about to take his off. No matter how hot it was. It was another "Adam" thing. Adam looked down at his checkered vans, nothing new really. He had, had them forever. Adam turned his head to look across the street, nothing. Just some stores and a few children palying in the streets. What kind of place was this?
[Hey there Delilah I've got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I'd write it all Even more in love with me you'd fall We'd have it all]

What's it gonna take to slow us down to let the silence spin us around? What's it gonna take to drop this town? We've been spinning at the speed of sound.
She smiled carefully, looking right into his face. She hated it when people didn't meet others eyes. Especially when meeting new people. She extended a hand, hesitating just a bit before speaking.
"I...know the feeling. Try being Spanish someday. It's hard not being accepted... My name...well, my friends back home used to call me Elly."
There was a hint of sadness in her voice, and she downcast her eyes. Not much hope of ever seeing those friends again. They weren't the ones in San Diego, who called her Elephant. Or Spanish trash. No, her real friends were the ones she'd made in Spain, while her family were visiting Ms. Paloma's parents one year.
A car horn brought Elvira back to reality, and she found herself once more standing in front of a boy. She remembered what she'd said, and adjusted her stance, so she seemed confidently herself again.
"But they aren't here, right now. You and I are. Nice to meet you, Adam Garret."
If we're adding to the noise turn off this song If we're adding to the noise turn off your stereo, radio, video
She smiled, and the smile was not just her mouth but her eyes as well. She was determined to forget about everything unpleasant, or anything that made her drift off like that. Not a very good first impression, standing there in another world when meeting someone new.
Stepping out of those convenience stores what could we want but more more more? From the third world to the corporate core we are a symphony of modern humanity

[I'm just a normal boy That sank when I fell overboard My ship would leave the country But I'd rather swim ashore]
Adam smiled, that geniune smile. Something he never did alot. But heck, he was meeting someone new. Yea, this place just seems to be well... Hell. If thats appropriate? He grinned. Everywhere was hell to him. Adam could be anywhere. It really didn't matter. Was that normal? To feel that every place you went was hell. Wow. Coma crazy huh? Pretty much. But Adam could carelss. Hell he didn't give s h i t. Well normally he didn't. Wtf totally off subject.
[Without a life vest I'd be stuck again Wish I was much more masculine Maybe then I could learn to swim Like 'fourteen miles away']
Nice to meet you aswell. Adam held out a hand, for her to shake. It was only polite right? Yes, he was trying to be a gentlemen. HAHA! Adam? Being a gentlemen? Whatever. Adam was a rebl, he was 15 and already drinking up a storm. Not like he ever said that outloud to new people. Though sometimes when he was hyper he would yell FISHY'S it was kinda weird... But whatever made him feel good about him self...
[I want to swim away but don't know how Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean Let the waves up take me down Let the hurricane set in motion... yeah Let the rain of what I feel right now...come down Let the rain come down]

With all of our fashion We're still incomplete The God of redemption Could break our routine
She took his hand and shook it, her firm grip wrapping around his hand. Her brown eyes met his, and she felt a tingle of...something. First crush, maybe? she had to admit, he was hot. In a...cute way. And he was wearing black. Along with red, elly's favourite color was black. She smiled, and quickly looked away before he might realize she'd been staring.
"I wouldn't call it that, exactly. After all, I believe in getting to know a place before I judge it. And I've only just gotten here, as well."
She let go of his hand, and rubbed the back of her neck. This could get into one of those awkward silences, rather quickly.
"So...you just out walking, are you?"
Well, duh, Elly. Just like you're just out jogging. But now you're lost, and crushing on a guy you've just met.
There's a new way to be human It's nothing we've ever been There's a new way to be human New way to be human
She put her headphones and discman inside her bag, and was so busy trying not to look like a freak that she dropped her bag. Right onto the scorching hot concrete, and pretty much everything fell out. Because it was Murphy's Law. When trying not to look like a freak in front of the guy you're crushing on, you'll drop your bag and tampons will fall out. She groaned, and went about stuffing everything back into her bag. But unlike her usual very organized character, stuffing things in just made everything fall out even more. Including her Bible. Elly usually wasn't a fan of making her belief known, so hopefully before Adam noticed, she snatched it up and laid it back in her bag. She hoped he hadn't noticed anything.

[Lithium, don't want to lock me up inside. Lithium, don't want to forget how it feels without... Lithium, I want to stay in love with my sorrow. Oh, but God, I want to let it go.]
It was one of those moments where silence takes over. The kind of moments Adam hated. Truely hated. Yea, well my life is effed up. So I think I can say that. Adam grinned, probably not a good time to grin, but to him I mean his life was messed up he needed to smile more often. His life was pretty screwed up because of his crackhead stepfather being an a s s all the d a m n time. It was odd and Adam hated him with a passion. A really really really big passion.
[Come to bed, don't make me sleep alone. Couldn't hide the emptiness, you let it show. Never wanted it to be so cold. Just didn't drink enough to say you love me.]
My mom told me to get out more. Adam rolled his eyes, and flattened his bangs out with his hand. He sighed quietly and looked at Elly for a mere second then looked around onto the streets and such. Seeings all her stuff fall out of the bag he bent down to pick up and few things, and stood up and handed it all to her. God he dropped his stuff all the d a m n time. Don't worry about it. I drop my stuff all the time. It happens to the best of us I suppose. Adam stifled a chuckle. He had never laughed in a long time omigod. That was odd huh?
[I can't hold on to me, Wonder what's wrong with me.]

At thirty-one His whole world is a question mark All this time He's never been awake before
She took the items he handed to her with a grateful smile.
"Thanks. I'm sure you don't drop tampons, though."
Great. I'm sure he wants to hear about all the times I've dropped tampons. A blush crept over her cheeks, and she looked down. She made sure to zip up her bag fully now, and set it on the ground at her feet.
Watching dreams that he once had Feed the flame inside his head In a quiet desperation of the emptiness he says...
"Well, I'm not trying to brag or anything. But try living in a neighbourhood where your mother gets shot in a gang fight. Oh, and you really gotta try being the only non-white family in said neighbourhood. Try that for a messed up way to grow up."
She blinked, and realized that she'd pretty much given away her entire life story to a random, but cute, guy she'd only just met. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID girl. You promised yourself you wouldn't do that.
Finding now His old dreams aren't panning out All this time He's never been awake before
